You guys, I’m kinda stoked that Lucy Liu is Watson as opposed to Sherlock if just because of the fact that Watson is coded as the more human character of the two. It will be difficult to “other” Watson, that character is a fan favorite and is supposed to be universally relatable, it will be nice to see a WOC fill that role. Sherlock is the lead, but, there are a thousand different ways to “other” Sherlock, ESPECIALLY if the character was played by a WOC. Even more especially with the stereotypes surrounding Asian American women. Overall, I think it’s a smart call.
